{"id":7885,"date":"2022-11-17T09:13:43","date_gmt":"2022-11-17T14:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nptrust.org\/?p=7885"},"modified":"2024-07-16T15:41:57","modified_gmt":"2024-07-16T20:41:57","slug":"highlights-from-npts-2022-daf-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nptrust.org\/philanthropic-resources\/philanthropist\/highlights-from-npts-2022-daf-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Highlights from NPT\u2019s 2022 DAF Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Earlier this week, NPT published its 2022 <em>Donor-Advised Fund Report<\/em>, the latest comprehensive annual analysis of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nptrust.org\/what-is-a-donor-advised-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">donor-advised funds (DAFs)<\/a> sector in the U.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DAF donors were highly active in 2021. DAFs reached a new record for grantmaking, as well as the fastest growth rates on record for contributions and charitable assets\u2014funds that will further encourage support to charities to advance their missions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 2022 <em>Donor-Advised Fund Report<\/em> examined 2017 through 2021 fiscal year data from 995 charities offering donor-advised funds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here are the most significant takeaways and top-level findings in this year\u2019s report:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2022 <em>Donor-Advised Fund Report<\/em> Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DAF donors again<strong> granted at historic levels<\/strong>. Grants from DAFs to qualified charities totaled an estimated <strong>$45.74 billion<\/strong>, representing a <strong>28.2 percent increase<\/strong> compared to 2020, which itself was 28.3 percent higher than in 2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>DAF payout rate<\/strong> was <strong>27.3 percent<\/strong>, the highest on record.\u202f Payout has remained above 20 percent for every year on record.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>total number of individual donor-advised fund accounts<\/strong> increased by 28 percent to <strong>1,285,801<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Charitable <strong>assets under management<\/strong> increased as the stock market surged. <strong>Charitable assets totaled $234.06 billion in 2021<\/strong>, a 39.5 percent increase from the revised 2020 total of $167.81 billion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>DAF <strong>contributions<\/strong> in 2021 totaled <strong>$72.67 billion<\/strong>.
