Image courtesy of Hispanic Access Foundation.<\/em><\/small><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cMejor juntos.\u201d<\/em> Translated into English it means, \u201cBetter together,\u201d a fitting motto for <a href=\"https:\/\/hispanicaccess.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hispanic Access Foundation<\/a>, a nonprofit that connects Latino communities with issue expertise and guidance, develops new leaders and elevates Hispanic voices across sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Founded in 2010 and based out of Washington D.C., the organization connects Latino communities across the country through trust-based partnerships and helps promote greater representation and development of Latinos in areas like environmental conservation, land management and faith leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organization\u2019s vision for community building and togetherness is as relevant as ever during <a href=\"https:\/\/hispanicheritagemonth.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hispanic Heritage Month<\/a>, which takes place annually from September 15 to October 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDuring Hispanic Heritage Month, it is very important to acknowledge the people who have been vital to the growth and development of the United States\u2019 extremely diverse identity,\u201d says Luke Argleben, the nonprofit\u2019s Director of Development. \u201cLatinos and Latinx not only represent what has been part of our nation\u2019s history, but our future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/fact-tank\/2022\/02\/03\/u-s-hispanic-population-continued-its-geographic-spread-in-the-2010s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hispanic population<\/a> continues to grow in the U.S., Argleben believes that this is the time to \u201cshine a light on the hidden stories of strength in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The organization does this through programming like the <a href=\"https:\/\/ourheritageourplanet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Our Heritage, Our Planet film festival<\/a>, which \u201cexplores the intersectionality between cultural identity and nature,\u201d as told through the lens of BIPOC filmmakers and storytellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A focus on the environment is of particular importance to Hispanic communities across the country, Argleben notes. Climate change and environmental justice \u201cis the most unifying issue in our polling of Latino communities.\u201d Over the summer, Hispanic Access Foundation hosts <a href=\"https:\/\/latinoconservationweek.com\/about-lcw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Latino Conservation Week<\/a>, a series of events and activities focused on the protection and stewardship of natural resources. The organization&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/hispanicaccess.org\/what-we-do\/mano-project\">MANO Project<\/a> helps place Latino students and recent graduates into positions across environmental conservation, engineering and other fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of Hispanic Access Foundation\u2019s work relies on donor support from individuals, foundations and corporate partnerships. Argleben notes that funding grew significantly throughout the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nptrust.org\/philanthropic-resources\/philanthropist\/covid-19-now-updated-insights-for-donors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">COVID-19 pandemic<\/a>. For Argleben and his colleagues, that includes goals like expanding their health and education programming, and greatly expanding their network of leaders who, Argleben says, \u201ccan mobilize people
